In an effort to help raise infant and childhood immunization levels in the United States, the federal government created the VFC Program in 1994. The VFC program follows the recommended immunization guidelines established by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. School entry requirements follow these same guidelines and are established by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
